How I fixed my floppy Boxster sun visor.
Raise your hands, those of you who have sun visors that no longer stay up!
This was my solution...
I removed the bracket
Drilled a hole in the back of it, and a bit into the hole wall on the other side
Drilled a matching hole through the visor pin
Pushed a small rod through the holes, locking it into place.
And Bob's Yer Uncle.

If your visors are flopping for the same reason mine was, it's due to the ribbing texture stripping out on the visor pin and hole it goes into. The pivoting function is on the visor pin, which seems to have some sort of internal spring.
Adding the pin locks the pin and hole together again. I'm guessing these strip out because the tension on the visor spring is stronger than the pin and hole can handle, and they strip out over time.

I did the same for a bit, and I agree...the car looks better without. But I decided they really did serve a purpose after being annoyingly blinded a few times, so I added them back.
BTW it REALLY helps the look of the visors if you get rid of the hideous warning labels on them. You can remove the decal with nail polish remover and patience, cut a decal to cover them up, or purchase a decal. If you cut your own I recommend the 3M carbon fiber look vinyl tape.

I removed my sun visor to fix it like in the way mentioned here, but I think I ruined it! I can't insert it back to the metal rod (See the attached). Anybody knows how to fix this thing?
One more Question, I found a used non-illuminated sun visor, can I take the mirror part from my old one and install on the other one?

This weekend I fixed my sagging sun visor. 3 wraps of Teflon tape on grooved section of the visor pin did the trick. On my 987.2, I had to lift the visor all the way up to reinsert the visor on the pin. I had to rotate it slightly to 'feel the fit' and then apply pressure toward the A pillar.

Would you mind sharing a bit more detail for me? Am I removing the entire visor and then do I somehow separate the visor from the bracket (closest to the drivers window with the two screws) followed by wrapping the pin with tape? I had difficulty trying to separating the two pieces once I removed the visor and bracket? Any hints would be welcome.
