Just purchased my 02 S for $17k w/29k miles. The bank valued it at $21.6k for loan purposes.

I purchased my 02 S two years ago with 68k on it for 12250. They can be had. Good luck!

Yes- S models. Spent the last 6 months shopping and driving so while it's only one mans opinion- it's a pretty good one.
I ended up with the 03 S. They did make some good (IMO) changes in the 2003 up models.

No. The differences are cosmetic. Bumpers and rear window.

I think the 2003 and beyond also got another 10 hp due to some intake manifold something or other. The engine will even sound different at a higher RPM.

correct, for the 03S there was a bump in hp, over the earlier S models and new anti roll bars were used, which stiffened the handling. There were some cosmetic differences too.
