Newly Acquired 2011 Spyder
Spent Memorial Day buying this 2011 Spyder. It only had 1,415 miles on the odometer and came with Carrera Red Natural Leather/Alcantara Sport Bucket Seats, Bi-Xenon Headlights, 7 Speed PDK, Automatic Climate Control, 19" Boxster Spyder Wheels, Sport Chrono Package and both Sport and Sport Plus driving modes. What a way to celebrate Memorial Day.

You guys care to share what it's like to own this car? Issues with roof? Driving feel? I'm considering one, just heard mixed reviews vs just buying a new boxster with the normal roof with similar performance

My perspective only of course but the roof is better and worse than the stock boxster. First the worse, it's noisier, it's thinner and a bit easier to break into, it takes practice to be good at putting it up and you must be careful as the potential to scratch exists in the metal loop ends.
Now the better. It has no motors to fail, it requires no timing sequence reset if it needs repair. It's lighter than the stock, it's unique and looks cool on. It's likely replaceable by having any boat canvass place make one and it doesn't need to be refit to a frame.
As for the car, it's so worth any trouble the roof gives that it's simply not an issue for me. Then again I don't put it up and down twice a day, I keep it garaged and have another DD. The spyder feels like nothing else I've ever driven and on the occasions that someone tries to "dog you" and you aren't in the mood for it, there are very few cars that can approach it's blistering acceleration.

My Spyder is only a week old and I have never been this excited about any other car I have owned including the 2008 Cayman S I traded for her. There are so many things I love about this car that the roof is non issue. The power to weight ratio on the Spyder is phenomenal. It corners like no other car I have ever driven including the Cayman. No other Boxster will match the performance of the Spyder. I get thumbs up everywhere I go. Curious as where you think you can buy a Spyder. They are very sought after and difficult to find. I happened to surfing the internet on Memorial Day morning and saw a listing for one at my local Porsche dealer. My first impression was its probably no longer there but much to my surprise it was still available when I called. I immediately jumped in my Cayman S and headed to the dealer. When I arrived, they immediately asked my level of interest as the internet ad had generated a large response. Since I was already a customer of this dealer I had the right of first refusal. Needles to say, there was no refusal. I told them to wrap it up and I will take it home. Absolutely no regrets.
