help! do I need a new key?
I just bought a 01 Boxster from a local auction and the only key it came with was the little key with the black key head about the size of a dime.
The car is in nice shape, has 55k miles, and everything with the key seems to work ok. It unlocks the doors, works fine in the ignition switch, all the lights light up, etc...but the car doesnt crank over. I noticed that the black key head cover also separates form the metal part of the key as well.
I was wondering if I need to buy a new key? I called the dealer and it seems its about a $400 ordeal with having to have the car shipped to them.
Anyone got any info? Thanks!

You need to fully depress the clutch to start the car.
Either way, you'll want a keyfob (and probably a backup set), and that's $400. I have tried all the short cuts, but eventually you'll need the key and remote programmed to your DME ande that requires a trip to the dealer.
