Default Have Fob / No blade

When I got my '01 Boxster S I got one working key/fob assembly and one functional fob (the LED lights).

What am I looking at to get the spare working? Just the blade? Or is there programming involved?

It is difficult to know if the bladeless key fob will allow the engine to start. The LED blinks when you push the buttons but that means something, but not everything.

Do the doors unlock? Lock?

Can you open the front/rear trunk lids?

If not then the bladeless key fob will not only need a blade but will need to be introduced to the car's security system. IOWs, programming is involved.

Do you have the ID tags that came with the keys?

A new blade can be ordered I believe through a dealer. Or you could have a new one cut at a well equipped locksmith shop.
