Looking for price feedback - 04 Anniv Ed considering buying
38K, natural grey int, bose, cruise control, speedster humps. Southern car. From P dealer with 2 yr certified warranty. They are asking $29.9K

How does a 7 year old car still get a 2 year warranty?
To me its high priced (I don't care much for "special editions) considering for nearly the same money you can get a 280-290hp 987 Boxster S or a CaymanS.
Is there something about this car in particular that you are looking for?

I had the same questions
They were certifying for a second time as the second owner put less than 5K on it. I was going to target $25K, might trade a '08 BMWW 135i on it. I haven't seen many 07s for low 30's.

There may be a small ($100 IIRC) transfer fee if the car is sold privately.
If the car is sold to a non-Porsche dealer, or an auto broker, the CPO warranty is voided.
The new coverage works this way: Vehicles eligible may be current model year and be no older than 8 years old from the original in-service date with less than 100,000 accumulated miles.
Sincerely,
Macster.

If you can find one, try to buy one with the cocoa interior. Very rich looking! The grey is nice, I'm sure, but the "signature" color combo for that car was cocoa interior and top. That's how it was written up in all the reviews and Porsche publicity. (I bought one and still have it but I'm not selling it.)

Also, the word I have is this new CPO warranty offers better coverage nearly the same offered by the new car bumper to bumper warranty.
Sincerely,
Macster.

This explains it:
The Porsche Approved Certified Preowned Program comprises two distinct limited warranty coverages.
1) The limited warranty covers up to 6 years or a cumulative 100,000 miles/160,000 kilometers, whichever comes first if the vehicle is still under the new car limited warranty.
2) The limited warranty covers 2 years from the date of sale, up to a cumulative 100,000 miles/ 160,000 kilometers from the current mileage on the odometer at the time of purchase.

They are definitely offering 2 years CPO from date of sale. Vehicle had two owners and 38K mileage. Asking $29.9, think they will sell for $28K, still think its a bit high/ although may be worth the peace of mind for 2 years coveage.

As I've mentioned before I bought an 03 Turbo with 10K miles with a CPO warranty. I had driven my 02 Boxster for over 200K miles and 150K of that sans any warranty and the car and the engine were reasonably well behaved in that time to the point I believed a warranty beyond the factory warranty a bit uncalled for.
However, I was concerned about the Turbo's low miles so I bought the car.
The CPO warranty proved to be very much worth the extra money (I assume) I paid for the Turbo and any premium for the presence of the CPO warranty.
Idler roller bearing, radiator fan motor, radiator fan, transmission leak (tranny replaced), clutch accumulator and clutch slave cylinder, coolant cap all were taken care of under the warranty. I might add that none of the above appeared until the car had around 35K miles on it.
But I drove the car. The warranty expires this month (the 28th IIRC) and the car has over 66.6K miles, I having added over 56K miles in the just under 2 years I've owned the car.
I'm at the point that given the car's condition and how the engine sounds, etc., to keep the car out of warranty driving it as long as I can like I have my Boxster.
My point is that given the car you are looking at, its relatively low miles, as long as the CPO warranty doesn't increase the cost of the car too much, if the rest of the car is to your liking, checks out with flying colors, and you intend to drive the car adding at least another 20K miles or so (bringing the mileage up to over 50K miles) I think you should seriously consider the car.
Sincerely,
Macster.

FWIW, I'd be looking for a 996 C4S in that price territory. A co-worker of mine has an anniversary Boxster with black interior. Looks super sharp, but you'd have to be a p-car enthusiast to spot major differences parked next to my standard Boxster S.
A few pieces of envy come to mind. Shifter and e brake handle along with painted center console for sure. But at half the price, I'll have my "regular" Boxster S thanks.
