Default Goodbye 944 ... Hello 986

Well it came down to either spending a bunch to make my old 944 look really clean, or look for something already really clean. So after some searching for a few months I finally got a 986. Found it last Saturday and gave it a look over. Brought Marky522 with me to check it out Sunday morning (thanks again dude). Then thanks to the state employees credit union being available by phone on a Sunday, I was driving it home that afternoon. It's a very clean 2001 Boxster S with 80k miles some nice options and she cost me $14,300. Been working all week so looking forward to this weekend to wash/wax drop the top and drive.

I think I have the options figured out except for two of them. I'm thinking one is for the wiper speed control. Not sure what the second might be for. Anybody know the missing two codes below? I've searched everywhere I know of but can't find them.

c02 - US emission equipment
288 - headlight washers
424 - cd shelf center console
454 - cruise control
476 - stability management
490 - Hi-Fi sound system 6 spkr
502 - -----------------------------------
551 - wind deflector
584 - -----------------------------------
601 - Litronic headlights
696 - AM/FM/CD-Radio - CDR-220

Though I have had t-top cars in the past, I'm loving my first convertible. Plus the sound of that flat 6 compared to the inline 4 in the old 944 is awesome. I looks like it has a new plastic rear window since it is crystal clear. No rips in the interior but the seats are getting dry. The bolster on the drivers side is looking weak and ready to split. So I'm treating it with some Pecards leather dressing and it's getting more supple with each treatment. No dents or dings. Now I just have to sell the 944. So here are some pic's ...

Welcome to the 986 world.

Looks like you had a good deal on that one.

Nice Catch and your LOCAL!!

I use the Lexol (2 step process) for my leather interior and you may want to look into that product.

Not noticing this observation on the second pic on my first look, is that a little sasquatch riding shotgun?

Marc Gelefsky :
Thanks for the codes. Much appreciated.

Silver Box :
Thanks. I'm loving this color.

LeRox :
Yep the little head of hair poking up is my copilot / 8 yr old daughter. Says she's going to be a lawyer so she can buy daddy a "brand new" Porsche one day. Ah, daddy's little retirement package. Say have you been to any of those sunday morning things over at Beaver Creek in Apex?

aeshultz :
Yep it's that car. It didn't mention in the add that it was an S so I passed it by at first. Then after checking on it to see what the colors were I saw it was actually an S, but it was listed as a 6 spd automatic. So thinking they meant 5spd automatic I passed it over again. Yet I kept getting drawn back to it and decided to look one more time to see how I liked the Arctic Silver and Black when I noticed the manual shifter in one of the pictures. The rest is history.

To everyone else thank you also.

Same here. Actually I kept the 951s and added two Boxster S's.

Love it.

Lots of us started out with 944's, my biggest regret was selling my last 951

I was washing and cleaning up the 944 today. I have someone who seems very interested in it as a track car. He might be picking it up next weekend. But I kept thinking for as much as i love my *new to me* Boxster I'm gonna miss the 944.

Though the end has been coming since a few months ago when my wife picked up a 2008 Passat 2.0T. The newness of it, and the power of the 2.0 Turbo compared to the 2.7 n/a had me looking for something new.

Loosing the 951 was not an option for me. When it came time to boot one of the cars out of the garage. Itr was an easy choice.

Well if it was a turbo or a S2 I would try to keep it. But it's just a n/a, and needs work, so what ever it sells for is going toward the 986's loan.
