help me decide
Hi I am about to buy a 2000 Boxster S with 72k miles on it.
Being 9 years old I am just worried the problems will start coming out soon.
I know there are still a lot of 70's and 80's Porsches out there in good shape.
I see a lot of people here changing once they reach 10years.
Is this car made to last.
Basically I will be spending approx 23K Canadian for this car and am wondering if it is money well spend and for a reasonable time.
As far as history records the car seems well maintained
The car will be used as a pleasure car not a commuter.
TIA

Seriously, 72K miles is not that high for a 2000. If the car has been maintained properly, it should not be a problem. Get a PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) on any car before you buy it.

those cars do better as a commute vs garage queen.

That's basically what I have done. Although I try to drive it at least once or twice a month during the winter if the roads are clean and I use a Porsche trickle charger for the battery.

Does anybody know if these are original Porsche mags. And if so which ones are they? Used car dealer selling car has no clue. Has Porsche emblem on it.

Also what do you guys think of color combination? Brother in law finds it a little feminine. Saw another with black interior. Personally I like tan. Picture looks a little orange but it is the guards red.
TIA

Those wheels are not factory wheels. The color combo is all up to you.
While I like black interiors the tan cuts down on heat considerably. My black Cayman S has a tan interior and is much cooler in the summer than my prior silver 996 with a black interior. I had a silver Boxster back in 2000 with a black interior. When the top was left down in the summer it would burn your legs in shorts. Also a reason not to get real aluminum trim items like shifters in converts.
I think red/tan combo's in general do not photograph well (unless the photographer really knows what they are doing) and are much better looking in person. Forget the feminine comments because there are some that will say no matter what color the Boxster is it is chick car (unfortunately these people have not driven one). Get what you like a drive it. Fantastic cars.
