Default a little bit more ooomph

hello guys.
i am asking for a friend of mine who likes to get a little bit more fun out of his boxster.
what can we do in order to get his smile bigger.
i mean as far as upgrades is concerned.
nice exhaust? a chip for the DME? whatever it takes.
maybe you got a few links for me?
just no K&N intakes of so.
he just spent 4 grand on a new intake.
i guess smoking and cigarette out of the window is not a good idea
for these cars (lol but i won't say more about that story hehe)
thanks in advance

Supercharger kit, 996 engine transplant (3.4 3.6 even 3.8 depending on the model) are the most cost-effective upgrades. just my 2 cents

There are no easy HP gains.

A transplant, or supercharger are the only ways to get more power. Neither is easy, neither will maitain the longevity of your friends car.

The best piece of advice I could offer is get an exhaust. If anything, that will give him the pyschological performance increase.

Intake, exhaust and ECU are the pretty standard-fare mods. If he's already gone the intake route, then there is really only a little bit more left. A 911 transplant engine would make a more fun Boxster but not exactly bolt-on. Not going by manufacturer's claims, typical bolt-ons are maybe worth 5HP--hardly noticeable unless you do them all and put the car on a diet.

my friend raced another car (perhaps a bmw 850ci?)
anyway.
flicked out his cigarette when he downshifted and it went right into the the ashtray (intake). he got home and then a few days later the car would not start.
the porsche techs called and apparently someone must have been smoking while driving the car...there were are few buds in there...lol and one flamed the whole intake. it cost him 3 grand in repairs and now he got a new stock intake. he was bragging about it to me .
but i asked him straight out. you didn't get a performance intake?
now he want's me to set him up with some goodies.
and here i am

You don't mention what car, eg year, base or S.
Anyways, FWIW, you're going to spend a bunch of money for very little gain, a possible extra 15hps is nothing compared to what the car can do stock. You can't use what it has now on the street and be safe and legal lol.
Youtube has a bunch of videos of guys that thought they could.
IMHO, better advice would be to learn how to drive it via PCA's DE track days.

If you're stuck on more hp etc. then you need to have deep pockets and look for an engine swap or a shop that will add more liters to your engine. eg Flat6.
