Speculating in the Porsche Boxster market is a risky game. I'm not saying you couldn't sell for more than you bought for, but as you have learned, the market for these cars is all over the place and well, the economy still isn't helping the values of these cars.

Some dealers may do a PPI, but mostly they are the business of the independent shop. Expect to pay a couple hundred bucks. Go over their list of items they check and add your own checklist as desired.

ive been seeing 99-01 boxsters with manual tranny, under 65k miles, anywhere between $13-16k.. so yes, you are correct with the prices being all over the place.

if i buy, drive for a year, resell for a grand under, ill even be happy

but that's going on a tangent. i dont care about that right now

i want to make sure i know how to properly search for a good boxster, one that doesnt have any current problems or potential ones in the very near future.

anyone in SOCAL willing to go with me ?

thanks

great taste in cars, the 03 540i is one Bad *** car.
01 has a better interior and 3 point steering wheel.
I love my 01. 70k and still going strong after one year of ownership.

in regards to the second porsche i mentioned (2000, with 53k miles) there is the following problem. can someone comment on it? is it a common problem? what is the permenant fix?

in an email from the owner:

"the driver's side power seat is now inoperable, for some reason when someone moves the driver's seat fully forward then backwards (like when vaccuming the carpet) sometimes the fuse blows. There should be a spare [blue?] fuse in the fuse box just beside the clutch pedal, pop one in and the seat should be fine. Fuse does not blow when doing adjustments when fine tuning driving position. I'm thinking the rails might need some grease or something but keep forgetting to do it since it's not very often that the fuse blows. "

thanks!
