2000 Boxter 2.7
Greetings all,
I'm thinking of buying a 2000 Boxter with a 2.7 motor...Any thoughts on this year and engine? I'm wondering if they have a good reputation or if I should be thinking of a larger engine?
Thanking you for any help or advice on this matter.
Bruce

2.7s are no different than 3.2s as far as reliability. Early 2.5s had porosity issues and certain build dates in MY '99 had sleeved motors which were problematic.
A 2.7 Boxster is a great car. I had a 2002 with that motor, no issues.

I just bought mine less than 5 months ago. Love it. Pulls fine. Sounds great at higher rpm (above 4k). No problems with it yet either (the car has 41k miles)
The best way to answer this is to test drive one!

I own a 2000 2.7. It has been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned.
The car is my DE racer and summer fun car and it has never failed me!! The only problems I have had in 6 1/2 years of ownership have been replacing one failed wheel bearing (probably from track use on R-compounds) and replacing a worn engine mount (a common Boxster problem).
Good luck!!
