Default A merger idea

Not that I have the power or authority to do what I propose, but what do you think of the following idea.

Why don't we combine the Boxster/Cayman Forums at Rennlist?

My logic is as follows;

- These are not exactly the highest post volume forums at Rennlist. Combining them may create more traffic and participation interest.

- The 986/986S/987/987S/Cayman/Cayman S are all very similar under the skin.

- Let's not kid ourselves. Everyone knows the Cayman in nothing more than a Boxster hardtop with slighly different engine specs

- Finally, the solution I propose seems to work well for the 924/931/944/951/968 forum.

What do you Guys and Gals think?

I tend to agree.

The lack of participation is discouraging to see, and that's coming from a new member! Because I had a 993 in the past, I check out they're forum and love the camaraderie they seem to share. I'd love to see that with this group as well. Are Boxster people not "into" their cars as much as other model owners? I have loved my 986S from day one and am not at all embarrassed to let others know. I don't know, but I never saw much interest posted on the Boxster Registry either. What's up?

We have a beautiful thing here and there must be a way to get more out of it, don't you think?

A Boxster is no less a Porsche, so lets make the most of what we do have.

That's my thought. If you lump us all together we'll get more of a daily banter in here.

I agree as well. R2R - you took the words right outta my mouth. I do wish there was more activity on this forum - It's like reading the newspaper for me - seeing the activity each day keeps it interesting. I know i am crazy about my Boxster - Can't imagine why you others don't chime in? Type/ stage fright maybe - LOL!

And for the guy/ gal that thinks that Boxsters and Caymans aren't real Porsches - Get real - who do you think saved Porsche from their deepest financial situation a few years ago? Yep, you're right - Boxster and Cayenne owners.

my .02 cents......

Most other sites tend to put them together... It'd be like the 997 section having coupe, cabrio, targa, etc. special forums.

OK, Let's hear from the rest of you...
Question- Why are you a member of this community? Are we not a family? We/I'm not harping on any one in particular, I just want the best for us all.
Let's hear your thoughts.

I certainly think it would help the discussions on both forums. The models are not really different and most informaiton should be useful and applicable to both models.

The current setup is consistent with the other water-cooled forums (except the 987 part), but I do like the idea of combining them all. There is not just not enough traffic, and I surf all of them anyway. I think the reason is more that PPBB and CaymanClub exist.

I personally prefer Rennlist as there is more cross-pollination, so to speak, compared to the dedicated websites. Historically and still somewhat today, there is a lot of Boxster-bashing sentiment here which I think has driven a lot of 986/987 owners to other sites.

I assume they are just following the link over and voting. No biggie.
