Default Hood latch (front) won't release

My neighbor has a '97 Boxster with a dead battery and the front hood latch will not release. I'm a 993 guy so don't know how to help him. Is this an electronic thing where the latch won't open because he has no power? Is there another way to open this front hood? Thanks, Topcot

There should be a cable in the front bumper on the passenger side. I dont remember if it goes into the wheel area or not but its on the pass side.

Default Hood latch info

Thanks for your suggestion, however, there does not seem to be any type of cable or anything under the passenger side bumper. Nothing in the manual either and the Porsche dealers don't return calls. Thanks.

Look under the front bumper underneath the opening for the passenger side radiator. There should be a cable there that will let you manually open the trunk. If you still fail to find it, the next choice is to get a trickle charger that you can plug into the cigarette lighter.
