That maybe true but with the common engine problem with the early years that's the most I would go due to the thought of changing the motor out. Now if the motor has already been replaced say under warranty I would go higher. And yes due to the economy I'm holding off in buying one myself right now.

As a footnote, a local independent German auto service/dealer has a '99 basic with 86,200 miles listed for $14900. This shop has a excellent reputation and sells very nice cars.

I'm going to pass on this, and whenever the owner gets around to taking the car out the garage and taking some pics, I'll post them up. Just incase there's any interest on here.

He's out of the country for a couple weeks, last year this time he was thinking 10k, I guess it would be either 7 or 8k. I'll get the figure and post when he returns.
So I spoke with him; since the car is is such good condition, he'll like to get $9500 or close to it.

Actually I found out the car really wasn't a truely wrecked 'salvaged' car. The story is, the original owner bought the car for his young son who ended up wacking the car. The father did not want the kid to have the car again, so he had the repair shop inflate the bill so that the insurance company would write it off. The body shop bought the car from the insurance company, fixed and sold to my friend, whose auto repair shop is nextdoor. He in turn bought it for his wife to drive. She complains that it sits too low and it has since become a garage queen. Still is a salvaged car though, regardless......
Sounds like it is just that - a story
Market value from what people are saying for a well maintained 99 2.5 is obviously what people will pay, check out this thread that I started to figure out how much my car was worth.

So wifey decided to keep that car, and started driving it this week for the first time since my last post.
She wants to do a couple mods. She hates the way the front looks and wants to know what her options are for splitters etc. She definately wants to change the seats as she complained that the leather gets too HOT in the summer. So can you point me in the direction for these mods?
Here are a couple pics from early on this evening taken with my phone. It has an interesting hump on the back, never seen that before. She explained its fixed in place and the top cannot be easily raised with it in place. Therefore it will only be driven on sunnny days.
