If it's possible get a S. It's the only thing I regretted after I bought my 99'.

You need to do some investing in your future! Bull Market, invest some money and in a couple of years you'll be looking at Ferraris.
I nearly bought a Rolex (good deal came up) this spring while on vacation.
Decided to skip the fancy watch and dump the cash into shares of Blackberry, VMWare, Goldman Sachs and some oil stocks. That watch would have cost me dearly...I'm up no less than 40% on any and up over 100% on others.

You have your whole life to buy nice things. If you're dumping too much money into your current Pcar maybe you should consider something outside of Porsche with lower maintenance costs but still lots of fun. Honda S2000, MiniCooperS, STI, EVO. All great cars on the track and off.

Even though the above post is really insightful I wanted to post up this one, its a 2001 S with 80k miles for 12k
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...3&aff=national

only problem is no pictures are supplied, which makes me kind of skeptical.

Perfectlap - more than insightful, practical. No one can afford anything they buy anymore. Borrowing for cars, TVs, boats and whatever other high-dollar depreciating product that you can't afford is an easy way to dig a hole that you'll never get back out of. EVERYONE should take your advice.

Caboose, 12k for a 2001 S is too far below book to be realistic. It's either a scam or there's something wrong with the car.

I can promise you that any S that you find for less then $18-19k is salvaged=no no.

I just grabbed my S and spent a full month,at least 30 minutes a day searching Cars,Autotrader,Rennlist,6spdonline,craigslist & ebay for a my Boxster. You will not find an S that has a clean title for no less then $19k. Perhaps on ebay but then you have to factor in the time you spend getting the one way ticket, tanks of gas and possible headaches,it may not be worth saving the $1-2k in the end.

Dude don't finance $15k on your first car,who knows what your insurance,tune-ups & potential repairs you may encounter.

Stick with another car for now. Hate to say it, but at 18, I would not recommend buying a $15k car that is nearly 10 years old. You're just not financially ready for that. Give it time. Find something else for only a few thousand.
