I'm don't think I like the new front bumper when compared to the current one. Also, looks like there's a new wheel style.

BTW, how do you post multiple images in the same message?

The rear spoiler is an improvement IMHO.

At least with the new front/rear you'll be able to tell which way it's going!!!

Seriously, U.K Autocar mag also says power and performance is up to 226bhp and 260bhp for the 'S'
with a well cool 5.7sec 0-60 time.
(as fast as a 993 but not as fast as a 996 - a cinic might wonder whether that's 'limited' by a porsche matketing strategy).

Starting to get tempting,I may have to give one a try.

cheers,
La993Uk

0-60 in 5.7 is not nearly as fast as a 993. I'd like to see the standard Boxter S that can keep up with a 993 on the track (drivers being equal of course). I had my 1990 964 at the track recently for a DE event and seemed about equal to the Boxster S cars. Neither of us could keep up with 993 cars. Regular Boxsters were way behind just about everyone. I'm not trying to bash the Boxster. I think it's a great car (especially for the money). But they are NOT 911's. Sorry.

Feel free to come up to Edmonton anytime then. In our local PCA chapter, we have a driver than owns a 95 Carrera 4 that runs on R compound tires. He drove an 02 Boxster S (Michelin street tires)around the same course and bettered his C4 times.

On our track days, the Boxster S's that come out consistantly get better times than the 911s that come out, with the exception of the 996s.

What are the chances we'll be able to retrofit the new glass window top to '97 - '02 models?

I would say the chances of a retrofit are exactly squat. In order to get a glass window in the Boxster, they would need to redesign the entire roof folding assembly, much like they did on the 02 996 Cabriolet. Unless you were willing to completely replace the entire roof mechanism, then I don't think it can be done. It would probably be easier to just trade your older one on an 03.

Hope you don't mind a 996 owner weighing in here. I saw the post and wanted to drop a thought or two. BTW, thanks Norman for posting the pics.

I think overall the upgrade is a nice one, but the changes are just that: an upgrade as opposed to a redesign. After years of maintaining the same look, I thought Porsche would redesign the Boxster. Rather the changes seem evolutionary (not revolutionary). I guess this is similar to Stutgart's strategy with the 996's. We have redesigned headlights, better exhaust, new rims...but also more hp in our latest upgrade.

My guess is that the major redesign will come for the '05 model. At least that is what is rumored for the 996.

Regards.
