Huntley Racing's new Boxster Racer

Was it really necessary to butcher the car that much to make it competitive? It looks like it weighs about 1500 lbs and with a 3.6 cranking out 320+ HP, you'd have a rocket on your hands that in theory should leave the competition in the dust.

This car was in the Rennlist Auto Trader. Its reallyu just an old 911 front end and tube framed rear with a mid mounted 911 engine. So, technically, Its not real Boxster. Darn it! I was so hoping Huntly would take a real Boxster and modify it to GT3 specs like M. Lansky did.

Good grief. I'd be okay with the Frankenstein's monster look and nasty paint job if it were really based on a Boxster, but this is ridiculous. It's as bad as the NASCAR "stock" cars where ancient V8 FWD cars have bodies made to look like FWD models.

It's actually a full tube frame car, no 911 or boxster frame on board. We did use all Porsche componants though such as 911 spindals, 944 turbo brakes, 930 axles, 911 steering rack etc... The motor is relitively stock but making 340 HP at the wheels. The 3.9 ltr will make well over 400 HP at the wheels. The car is 1600# wet. There is no paint on the car, just gelcoat white. We need paint ideas.

So its still not a REAL boxsters,,,,,,,just a Tube Frame racer with a Boxster Shell. So it should real,,,,,,,Boxster (Skin Deep) Race car.......I would go with a variation of your famous Zebra 944.........that paint rocks!
Or, Since that car has more rivets in it than a 747 Jet. You should go with a Frankenstien theme. Since that car looks like it was cobbled together with so many different parts from other Porsches. Its the United Nations of porsche car parts.

I like it, but then again I'm partial to racecars, especially tube frame racecars 
Besides chances are pretty good that the class in which this car will compete the "vettes" and "vipers" are tube frame as well. Looks like a blast to drive.

The car is very very loud. The headers exit in the center 4" X 2 If we ever have EXTRA time to put a muffler on it I would do some fun laps at the Stadium. The car went to the track but only did parade laps since the brakes were not RIGHT, they were over cylandered which made the car hard to stop without significant pedal effort. The shift linkadge was also not worthy of the car and has since been changed. The car is going to WSIR in two weeks and will do 4-5 other events before the year is out. Here is a pic of three of our cars at California Speedway a few weeks ago.

the only thing is., its nots a real Boxster. Its a 911 engine /tube frame with a Boxster body. I know for a fact that you guys do EXCELLENT work and that If i lived in your area. I have no doubt that I would trust you with my porsches But this is NOT a real Boxster race car. At the most its a Boxster funny Car . To borrow a name from NHRA. Please, buy a real Boxster and build a Production based GT3 Boxster. Im sure you guys would blow people away with our knowledge of Water cooled flat sixes. You guys Rock with 944s!~

Not that I disagree but what defines 'real' or not 'real? I have a 944 based car in the shop with less than 10% of the original chassis on it, 'real' or 'unreal'? If we put a Boxster dash in does it become real? We are planning on having a pop on windshield/hard top when we run with SCCA and such will it be 'real' then? I think the fact that we are running mid engine, running a full Boxster body minus windshield, all Porsche drive train, all Porsche modified suspension, all Porsche brakes etc... says a lot. Is a 935 a 'real' 911? Is a GT1 a 'real' 911? What if we call our car a GT3R Boxster? Don't take my comments as angry because they are not intended to be that way. These are simply questions we are asking ourselves too. Here are some naked pics of the car as we are prepping it for the track. Cheers!

well, I still think that you cant truely call it a real Boxster race car. Since it does not have a Boxster chassis. However, I feel that you can call it a "Porsche" race car.
