Cool and thanks for the advice. I found a pretty good deal on some Eibach's so I might end up with those.

Glad to see you dont have any issues with rubbing.

Both you and Q have seem great looking rides.

Jimmy

Yes, the Boxster already has a pair of strut braces. They are black and run at 45 deg to the firewall. They are easily seen in the photo I posted.
I fitted an FVD strut bace.
<a href="http://www.fvd-usa.com/" target="_blank">FVD website</a>

The strut brace made a HUGE difference on my 993.
It has only a small difference on the Boxster.
IMHO it is worth it, just to keep the car rigid as it gets older.

If you look at the photo of my coil,
you can actually see where it has been rubbing on the plastic.
[the right hand side of the lowest visible coil]

My friend's noise no longer exists.
No probs, always happy to help

I have 15 & 17mm spacers on my wheels.
They have only lightly kissed the guards 3 or 4 times in 6000kms.
However, I am constantly grinding the bottoms off my mudflaps
Apart from that, rubbing is a non-issue.

Thanks, I am glad you like the look of it.
...now I want some 19's <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

Hmm interesting Q.

I'm not sure what to do first anymore? Here are some of the esthetics I want to do. What is everyone's opinion?

1. 996 / GT3 / Boxster Aero kit 2 - front bumper (see Rage and Scott in Texas)

2. Wheels and tires (18x8.5F and 18x10R)

3. Suspension setup (Eibach & Bilsteins)

autobahnNY....Thanks! The car is actually equipped with the standard sport pkg. suspension with the H&R springs. That's it! Love the ride, not jarring or unbearable. Pretty close to stock, in my opinion.

TNH986....Will you be putting the entire Aero kit (minus the wing)? Or just the front bumper. Sounds nice.... Go 19s....promise, you won't regret it! Unless you're an AutoX'r....

Q....That tapping sound I told you about, was indeed the spring coils touching. We wrapped the bottom two coils and "wa-la"....noise all gone! Thanks again....

Lower the car before you buy the body kit.
Lowering them changes their appearance quite a lot <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

Very True guys.

Q and JimmyD
Yeah I love they way your car's look. They do look like a different car. Close to stock, but just not quite stock...better.

JimmyD I just plan to get the 996 aero front, and match side skirts from another kit. After seeing you car I might have to consider 19's.

ps. Good advice on wrapping the coils. Will make sure to do that when I get mine installed.

Hey what do you guys think about the Bilstein PSS9 coilover system($1,799)? It is only about $600 more than the spring/shock setup I plan to get (Eibach and Blistein). Would be worth, to me at least, if the ride quality is as good as the proposed spring/shock setup.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to make smart purchases. Thanks for the advice much appreciated.

TNH986....Here's my thought on coilovers...

If money isn't an object, then why not get the coilovers. At least that way, you never have to worry about bottoming out, or matching springs to shocks, or height issues, or tapping noises, or winter! You could always go "up", "down" and sideways....

BUT...if money "IS" an issue. Then strongly weigh your money options. What do you want to accomplish? From what I hear, it looks like you'll be spending a pretty penny on:

Coilovers=$1800
Aero Kit=$1500 plus what ever it costs to paint.
Rims=easy $2000
B&M Short Shifter=$290

Just with that, you're looking at $5700+...and we haven't even talked about headers, exhaust, chip, etc.

So....weigh out what you're looking to accomplish and go from there.

Sorry so long! GOOD LUCK!

TNH 986

I have a set of PSS9's in my 993TT
Interestingly enough, they are quite noisy
The ride quality is not as subtle as the Eibachs.

Given the choice again.....
I would install Bilsteins / Eibachs, and pocket the change.
I really don't think they are worth the extra $$$'s

Thanks guys.

I had talked to Theo at FVD in Florida, and he was trying to push the PSS9 system on me. That's why I brought it up.

I thought it was much more expensive then the spring/shock setup so I pretty much ruled it out, and then I found it for $1800.

So I figured for only a little more cash I could get the adjustability I want. But ride quality is much more important than adjustability, so I guess Eibachs are the way to go.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I think I have some direction now.

1. wheels
2. Suspension
3. Aero kit
4. After warranty is over...MORE POWER
