**what should I ask for this boxster?
I'm going to be selling my boxster soon, and I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on how much I should ask for it?
it's a 99 with 59,000 miles on it, 19" three piece wheels, with a 2002 boxster S engine with around 15,000-20,000 miles on the engine.
the car is in pretty good condition. I'm thinking $20k is a good deal, considering the engine install itself was $11k...

Three Wheelin'
Unless there remains a warranty on the engine, I'd say 20k is a bit high. I bought my wife's 99 for < 17.000 with 61,000mi and the car was in mint condition. You also have to consider that the "Season" is over. Spring is the time to sell if you want top dollar, although the car will be considered a year older come 07.

While the Boxster S motor may be a plus, unless you upgraded brakes, 3rd radiator and 6psd trans, then all you have is a slightly souped up Regular boxster.
So.. who is the market for such a car. It won't fit in "stock" classes for those who might compete with the car. Also, even though the motor was 11k, it doesn't mean you will see that money back. A good rule of thumb is no more than $.50 on the dollar spent, and can be lower!
Why was the motor swapped anyway?
While not actively searching, I've seen higher mileage 2000 "S" going for low 20s, which may mean high teens at auction. I too think 20K is too high to expect (unless you are not in a hurry to sell). Most '99s seem to be offered around 18K...

We're about to spring for a 997S and was looking at Ebay to judge the potential value of our 01 Box-S and thought afterwards that perhaps we'd almost be better off keeping it. I'm surprised - aren't we all - at the good deals out there?!
I'm only 21,000 and loaded, but don't think I'd make much more than any other 01-S, just might sell a little faster with all the options. I also got a transferable warranty. ...gotta plan ahead.
