Its kind of like turn signals. For many people, its just too much effort...

agreed, i would seriously doubt your average Boxster lessee knows what a 928 is. i always wave/flash light to p-cars .. most of them prob think there is a cop around the next bend ...

If I see another Porsche coming I wave. Only about a 3rd of the time do I get waves back.

I just can't bring myself to wave at the Cayenne's yet though...

I used to wave at everything.. now I only wave to the older p-cars or wave back if someone in a newer p-car waves to me. I just dont think the hott shot executives in there 997's even know what a 951 is. Enthusiest driven 997's will always wave though, and thats a good feeling.

Unfortunately, I've had the non-wave experience more from Boxster drivers than the others, even though that's what I drive. I still wave if they don't wave back, oh well. I'm proud of what I drive and I feel P-car owners share a common bond just like the people on this forum.

Guys, don't jump to conclusions.

I'm guilty of not waving back on occasion. Not because I don't want to, but because I generally focus on traffic that is of immediate concern to me, rather than traffic going in the opposite direction.

Sometimes I just don't see the other Porsche before it's too late to wave.

Even if I wave 99 of a hundred times, there's still going to be one Porsche owner of every hundred I meet, running around complaining how "those 928 owners never wave".

Comparing it to the use of the turn signal is pretty funny, but the same observation apply. I bet we all forget it occasionally, and when we do, someone is going to be driving behind us with the impression that we are idiots who never use the turn signals...

Think about how many things in life this applies to. First impression are not right, and no, they won't last either, unless you absolutely want them to.

Ok, I'll settle for a 997 S

And a common topic on the 911, 964, 993, 996, etc pages. I get tons of waves when I'm in the 1949 Chevy Pickup truck. I also get waves while in the 1968 Chevy Nova. Come to think of it, my 1974 Triumph TR6 was the same way - lots of waves. Now that I mention it, my 1100cc V-twin cruiser bike is the same way...

My 88 Carrera - no waves.

Many Porsche owners just don't wave and that's that.

The days of flashing two fingers up in a victory sign to other sports car owners are long past. I wave to other Porsche drivers and they generally ignore me. I flash my lights at them and they generally ignore me.

But when I am riding my BMW motorcycle, every other cyclist gives me the low hand wave. Now that's a fraternity of motorists!
