Default **ignition?**

I've come upon the 476th problem with my 99 Boxster. I put my key into the ignition yesterday to turn my car on, and the key was hesitant to turn. When I turned the key to kill the engine, the auxiliary power was stuck on, the key again feeling a little jammed.

So the first part of my question is, what is this part called (the piece of the ignition that my key goes into), and what does this part typically cost?

thanks!

well the ign switch by itself isnt availabe trhough porsche any longer , they do still sell the same part throuh audi, if you search you can get the part number. What i have seen though is many times the ign lock housing binds up and replacing the ign switch by itself is only a tempory fix.
audi part is an ignition siwtch 30-40$

porsche part is ignintion lock housing 150$-160$

I can check my receipts when I get home to see if there is a part number from the dealership on it. This happened to me in the spring on my 2000 Boxster. It was covered under my CPO so I am not sure about cost, but might be able to help with the part number.
