P1123 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 1 - 3) - Lean Threshold
P1125 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Lean Threshold
This says that mixture is too rich and that DME can not adjust the the "too rich" mixture (Lean Threshold).
Potential causes are:
- Fuel pressure too high. -- possible
- Fuel injector leaking. -- not likely since you have the problem on both sides of the engine
- EVAP canister purge valve open. -- possible

thanks, I just paid $300 in diagnostic time only to get the car back , drive 35 miles and have the light come back on. I just went and had the codes read/cleared for free . Could this be a symptom of this car not being driven enough? I noticed it was smoking at start up(like it was running rich) and it had been sitting quite awhile. Today it did not smoke when I started it . How do I check the evap cannister valve?

This seems to be a common problem with Boxsters. See: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ht=P1123+P1125

I replaced the Mass Airflow Sensor last weekend with a new one, cleaned the airbox and intake, I even went back to a paper airfilter (I had a BMC in my car for the last 90k miles and 6.5 years). Then I cleared out the same error codes P1123, P1125 and P1130 (O2S Range 2 Cyl. 4-6). It was fine until today (three days after) the check light came back on.

The only difference with the new MAF ($300) the car runs better, but I think cleaning the old one with a brake cleaner ($5) would have done the same thing.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what else could be wrong and/or how can it be fixed?

Thanks

Interesting, it turns out there are NEW codes this time and the new MAF appeard to have solved the P1123, P1125 and P1130 error codes problem.

Now the new error codes are:
P0410 Secondary Air Injection System
P1411 Secondary Air Injection System Cyl. 4-6

Here is what I found so far on another forum http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=6885
and a nice PDF diagnostic document:
http://www.theautomotivetechshop.com...SCHE/P0410.PDF

I will keep you updated

Thecheck engine light has not come back on (yet). I'm tired of driving with my fingers crossed though. How many miles do I need to put on the car after clearing the codes before I can get smogged?

Please don't use brake cleaner, use electronics cleaner instead. Brake cleaner makes the plastics deteriorate over time while electronics cleaner does not.

Ask your dealer to put a European country code when he has the computer plug in, it will eliminate some emission stuff.

I'm finally going to get time work on it Monday. I've never even seen the engine. To access the engine can I just remove the passenger seat, or do both seats need to come out?

Also, should I take out the O2 sensors and clean them with brake cleaner, or is this a waste of time?

You access the engine mostly from the top and bottom. Only the belts and pumps are accessed from behind the seats. The instructions should be in the manual on how to access.

I had both codes at the same time...New MAF was the cure.
