I just put a deposit on an 01 Boxster S 6 speed with 38K miles, Passed the PPI at local P-car dealer with no issues,Service advisor says he would buy it.
xlent shape.
Price is 27K, decent deal from a NON-Porsche dealer?

Not bad. I just checked the Manheim auction sales reports and the average sale price for a 2001 S with that mileage sold at dealer auctions for an average of about $25.5K... Warranty on all except "Certified" cars has expired by now, so maintenance and condition are EVERYTHING on these cars. Enjoy the car--they are GREAT fun.

I decided to go with the lowest possible miles when I found my 2000 in Nov. of 2004.
only 10,000 miles at the time.
I saw newer years with much more mileage but decided to go with the low miles. Given that I ordinarily only drive about 5,000 miles a year I thought my 2000 would have really low miles by the time I sold it and would be more attractive to the third owner. the only problem is I ended up driving the thing twice as much as I thought! (which makes me glad I did go for the low mileage).

Yeah, a lot of people formed opinions w/o driving them. (Not implying you did or not..) Almost all change their minds when they get behind the wheel for any length of time. Only the true luddites hang on to their "it has no soul" mantra or whatever excuse they come up with...
Don't be surprised if you see me in an S by next spring. Can't afford it now, but by next year...quite likely!
