Default I need to sit lower in my car...

I'd like to take my car to the track this year but I need to sit about 4 inches lower (at least). I know that a roll bar extender will get me about 1.75 inches but I still need to sink another 2.25 to 3.25 inches.

What seat will lower me the most? Will I still be able to put my factory seat back in so my wife can drive the car? I'm 6' 3", 200 lbs. with broad shoulders so I'm looking for a seat that'll fit my frame.

Thanks,

Mickey

Hmm.. I'm six inches shorter and anly only 20-30 pounds lighter! LOL
that off season can be a killer. I hate running during winter, I think I go from running 5 miles a day during the warm months to zero miles a day.

You're definitely going to need the extension, not sense in risking it. As far as the extra clearance,
my GT3's will lower you to the lowest stock seat position minus another half inch. There is also a Brey Krause attachment that will give you another inch or so. INstallation of the GT3 seats is super easy because it uses the same mounting points and requires no aftermarket rails. The only change is to remove the seat belt receptacle from the stock seats and attach to the GT3's. I'll get my friend who is 6-3 in there this weekend to see if he passes the broom stick test with my crash hat on (I keep it in the trunk )

p.s.
don't skimp on that seat. Sparco and Recaro follow very low standards on their mass prouced seats which are essntially crap. The FIA standards they follow are a joke if you plan to use the car in open traffic. Cobra makes a few very nice seats in Kevlar.

Do they make those GT3 seats heated? :-)

my buddy who is 6-1 sat in my GT3 seats with my Bieffe F1 helmet on and failed the broomstick test miserably. Not even close. You'll need the rollbar extension no matter what seat you get. I recommend the GT3's, easy to install an remove. 10 minutes each side.

As far as I can tell, the only drawback to the GT-3's is their price ... Tough call if you need your car to work for a range of driver sizes ( you know, when your wife starts autocrossing and then starts beating you )

A weird thing about the perspective of the photo is that it appears your eyes look squarely at the windshield header. That must feel claustrophobic with the roof up, no?

I just fit in any car I drive. My eyes aren't quite up to the tinted part of the windshield but I'm definitely higher than I'd like to be.

I can see I'll have a big problem, I had hoped to get a boxster to replace my Miata. Where do you buy the rollbar extensions? and by the GT3 seats do you mean buying a Porsche seat or some aftermarket seat?

I have a suggestion, but it's a bit unorthodox... ever seen "Gattaca?"

So what was the results of the 6'3" frend test, that's my problem too. If this keeps up I might have to abandon my dream of buying a boxster and getting something with a hardtop.
