i am tired of ppl bashing boxsters. it's one of the BEST car porsche has made. those who think box is a chick car either never driven one or can't drive well or got an image issue with themselves.

I think it's wrong to bash another car unless 2 things have occured.

1. You currently own the car your bashing.
2. You previously have owned the exact model of the car your bashing.

Any one remeber late 1990's american cars!

Otherwise, it's just personal taste and I allway respect other peoples points of view.

A "chick car" Noooo way (wife cover your ears) "chick magnet" absolutly!!

Regards

So true. People who bash sport cars like the Boxster normally don't have a clue.

I am a 911 guy no question about it . I love my 77 wide body. I bought a used Boxster a few months ago as a touring car and it is the greatest car I have ever driven on the street. My 28 year old son who always bashed Boxsters cause there are so many of them drove it once and now he wants one of his own. Says he still doesn.t get turned on by how it looks but it drives so nicely he will never bash a Boxster again.

That story makes me sick. Since I got my '97 in September I've had to hear the same thing. Why are you buying the girlie Porsche, or why don't you buy a real Porsche. Most of the time I get this reaction from people that don't own a Porsche or have never owned one. The bottom line fellow Boxster enthusiasts, is, a Porsche is a Porsche, either you have one regardless of which model or you don't. I try to chalk it up to ignorance and jealousy.

I just remind people that there was Porsche before the 911. Did the 944s, 928s, and 968s get the stigma of being a chick car or not a real Porsche?

I bought this car over a 996 because I loved everything about this car. It was fast, it handled better than anything except my friend's Elise, and it reminded me of my favorite Porsche of all time, the 550 spyder. Simply put, I could find no better sports car bargain out there than a used 986 Boxster S.

Default Hardly a Chick Car

Miatas and MR2s are DEFINATELY chick cars. I own four Porsches (05 Cayenne, 00 Boxster, 83 911 SC, and 75 911 Targa.) I spend more time driving the Boxster than the other three combined MULTIPLIED by 4! And I am a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Anyone who calls a Boxster a "Chick Car" is welcome to say it to my face, (or to my tail pipe :-) )

That kind of statement is exactly how it starts with people calling Boxsters "Chick Cars". I know for a fact that over 85% of Boxsters are purchased by men. I would venture to guess that the overwelming majority of Miata's and probably MR2's are also purchased by men. Don't do to Miata guys what other drivers do to 986 owners.

On another subject......Thank you for your service!

Hmmmm, I have a '97 Dodge Intrepid (my LAST American made car) in the garage right now going through the latest repair.

I've spent more repairing it than both Porsches combined.

My last american car was a 96 Ford Taurus, soon after the warranty expired, it proceeded to dump a transmission atop the Grapevine!
