Whats this car worth???
A guy I know wants me to sell his car for him. Its a 2000 Boxster manuel trans Silver paint black top and black leather. Out side is an 7 to 8 out of 10. inside is about the same. Them car is not perfect. But I am also a very very picky person. It also has 44k miles. Thanks, judson

Look in Kelly Blue Book. Put in the mileage and see. One thing is for sure, there is glut of used Porsches. If you are not happy with it, keep looking till you find that works for you.

In theory I agree with you tincan. However, Kelley is not the end all when it comes to pricing. As a matter of fact, my experience has been that Kelley's pricing is off on many vehicles, especially when regional pricing is considered. They do a particularly poor job with Porsches for some reason (could possibly be due in part to the large number of options). They are a pricing guide but that is all.
That said, I agree with you...there are a ton of Boxster's out there (especially silver and black). It's supply and demand. A buyer can afford to be selective right now. Pricing ultimately depends on how motivated you are as a seller. A vehicle's worth on the other hand is whatever someone is willing to pay you for it... |
There are several places you can check
First the sites to enter info and figure value: http://www.kbb.com http://www.edmunds.com http://www.nada.com Check on car selling sites to see what people are asking too. http://www.autotrader.com Several others I just don't have urls for. Figure the average of the valuing sites. Next, figure the average asking price for similar cars on the selling sites. Figure the difference between the averaged asking and valued prices. The real value will probably be the average on the valuing sites plus about 1/3-1/2 of the difference. That should account for the haggling process. Good luck! |
I'll add one more comment to the mix. I have access to auto auction information (wholesale selling prices). I can tell you that in the recent sales that I was watching (several major Porsche auctions over the past few months), the actual auction sale prices on average were typically at or slightly above the Kelley and Edmunds prices (mostly focused on Boxster S). Take that FWIW.
