Radio code needed? And manuals....
I just purchased a 2000 Boxster S and it did not have any manuals. To those who know...if I lose power will the radio need a code to be turned on again? If so I wonder what would happen since I do not know the code the previous owner may have set it to. BTW-This car has the Hi-Fi radio option. Thanks!
Also-I have searched for basic service manuals (to do basic maintenance work myself since I am somewhat handy ) and owners manuals for the 2000 Boxster S and have come up empty. Anyone know of a site to purchase these things from? So far I have used suncoast porsche website for basic info on a 2003 Boxster to get me by.

On your year there is a 4 digit radio code that needs to be entered with the radio buttons if power to the radio is disconnected, or the battery is really dead. You cannot change this code.

Any Porsche dealer can get the code for you with the vin number. You can find owners manuals , radio, warranty book, and leather protector on ebay if you are patient. Expect to pay 50 to 80 bucks. There are several people who sell manuals and literature in the classifieds of Excellence and Panorama. You can also get factory repair manuals on CD, although it is copyright infringed material, it sells on ebay all the time.

Thanks for the great info...I'm just glad the radio code is not a user selected code! This would render the radio useless if I lost power! Patience is the key to manuals apparantly. I'll be checking around!

yes.. i have... it works only with the radios that use the 4 digit unlock code... since i've posted this, i've gotten 4 requests to unlock/decode and they all worked successfully.
it took a little to remember which part of the serial number i needed... its the last 4 digits of the serial number. (Y### ####)...

not the same car...this one has 46,000 on the clock. A little higher mileage than I had wanted but couldn't pass up on the price of $24,000. The car even passed ppi w/flying colors! This is my first Porsche and after getting rid of my Elise for this I will never look back...
