How are you guys reading the fault codes?

Did this solve your problems?

My 03 just started running a bit rough for a moment at a stop light today then ran fine. Later on a second drive it did it again and now the check engine light is on dispite it running fine. How can I check the fault codes?

Buy an Actron code reader, or, better yet, a Durametric unit.

You can also get the codes read for free at any national chain auto parts store (Pep Boys, Autozone, Autobarn, etc...).

http://www.durametric.com/

I just got the durametric code reader and it works really well. tells you a lot of info you may never need, but it works.

It doesn't solve the problem, but it gives you some idea as to what the problem is. Just a thought.

Thanks, I was looking at that one.

Not sure if I want to take my car to Pep Boys even though its free...

Dealer charges $185.00 thats more than half the price of the Durametic unit !

I dont know what your dealers are doing but we will normally read codes for free cause it gives us an opportunity to sell work.

In regards to your rough running engine, did it smoke at all?

No smoking on the engine.

That Durametric unit is really expensive ($700.00) unless you limit it to just 3 cars. They advertise that you can test cars before purchase. Well three cars any way, and if you don't buy one of them your tool is dead.
What good is that !
