pics of the new Boxster Coupe

Hot fun in the summertime?
Am I the only one here that thinks the back end looks awkward in those pics?
Difference engine... I'm not crazy about it either... too much going on with the back end. That gorgeous butt was designed to stand alone in the roadster format. They haven't exactly gilded the lily, but the roof now competes with the hips.
What with the toasty trunk, it may be hard to keep the coupe cool in the summer. Looks like the side vents have grown in size and shape. I'm assuming they've thought this through but you never know.

I've had two customers that wanted Porsche coupes, but did not want to pay 911 prices for them .They both ended up ordering regular Boxsters with hardtops, and neither has ever taken the hardtop off. I think there's a definite market for a Boxster coupe.

The auto manufacture needs to come up with some sort of "perk" if you would for those willing to dish out the extra funds hence: don't expect the new boxster to out-do the 911 if that's what you're thinking....
Dollar for Dollar the lowest priced all around car on the road these days is the Sub WRX.... I can't see myself driving one of these, sorry I need to have my flash as well as go..... Maybe if I was in my 20s...

Three Wheelin'
If they come out with a club-sport version of a Boxster coupe, it will a light, mid-engine, balanced beautiful car. On the track, it may well out-perform the regular 911 Coupe. That's what I'm hoping to see...

the head lights are better but i think the bumber cover needs work, i dont like the fog lights there, hopefully they are removable so it looks more like a turbo/gt2
Is it just me or do those wheels really suck!?!?

A lot of people would like to see a mid-engined coupe. In a perfect world, Porsche would mount the same engines in each platform, and let us choose between mid or rear-mounted engines. Some people prefer the neutral handling of the mid-engine layout.
Of course, Porsche probably won't let this happen for profitability reasons. But they may give us a Club Sport Boxster coupe (maybe the rumored 280HP Boxster S engine in a lightweight GT3-style setup). That would be a fun car.

I'm fairly sure I'm going to order the Coupe when it becomes available. My only concern is that given the mid engine configuration and a hatchback, the motor's inside the passenger compartment (albeit under a cover), somewhat like the Renault Clio V6. Is anyone else concerned about heat, noise and the engine smells? I personally had hoped Porsche would have opted for a 904 GTS retro style with a flat vertical back window. But, Porsche never calls me for my opinion!

There is plenty of noise/oder insulation in the convertible with the top up or with the hard top on, so I don't see why Porsche engineers should have any problem with the coupe. Granted, the roof will extend over the motor, but it won't be that different than with a hard top on. Still, good question...and one that can only be answered with a drive! Can't wait....

Although, they have apparently listened to the customer with the new 997. Hopefully, some of the cooporative spirit carries over to the new Boxster.

Perhaps with the coupe, and then with some Porsche backed aftermarket parts, you WILL have a mid-engineed Porsche that will out perform the 911's....
That way Porsche does not produce a "stock" Boxster that is better than the 911 on the track, but does sell the "hop up" parts to make a Boxster into a 911 killer.
Kinda like the way Harley sells all their aftermarket crud! Great way for Porsche to make some more coin (like they need it)?
