Default Boxster S Anniversary Tire Pressures

Just got the car for my wife... WOW what a blast to drive. Looking at the owners manual, indicates 36r/29f tire pressures, is this what you guys are running? TIA.

This is what porsche recommends, but it does lead to understeer. If your wife does not know how to handle the car then stick with these pressures. If she does know the difference between oversteer and understeer and 32 / 36 is better.

That's 32f and 36r, btw. I run a lot more pressure than that in my S. I run 42f and 44r. Really tightens it up. That's what I run in my V700 DOT-Rs, I decided to try it in my street tires. I liked it a lot, but it seems to cause faster wear. FWIW, I used to run 32f and 36r and was generally pleased with it.

Is 42f and 44r hot temps? If not that sounds really high for cold tires. What kind of wear did you get with 42f/44r? It sounds like the outsides would be really worn down. I take it you track the car and if you do, do you have a race alignment? Lots of camber?

I would think the middles would be worn down with those temperatures. 42f and 44r for cold temperatures would be ugly on the track. I'd have serious concerns about a tire blowout.

Those are hot temps. That's what I run in V700s for my track tires when autocrossing. I decided to try it in my street tires (adjusting hot temps after warming them up, although I'm usually running 36f and 40r cold on my street these days). The higher temps in my street tires effectively added spring rate and really stiffened the car. I'm currently running Ecsta 712s on the street, but I don't like them. They've always seemed slightly out of round until hot, and the extra pressure seemed to help with the slight vibration at speed from them being slightly oval. Note that I don't usually recommend running pressures that high on an open track (that's my autox pressures), nor normally in street tires. Just adding a data point that I've tried pressures that high, and had pretty good results (sharpening handling) but accelerated wear rate.
