Default Center console spring

First post here; made an account because I'm at a dead end. I've had my 2000 S for about 6 months now and all has been great. Of course the center console hinge was completely busted when I got it so I fixed it with that aftermarket repair kit. But it didn't come with a new spring, and the old one was missing before I got the car as far as I know. I can't find any kind of part # for it, nor can I find anyone else who has lost this spring. Any ideas?

There isn't any spring in the centre console that I can think of. Where is it on this diagram?

The only spring I can think of is the one in the lid button.

Strangely I haven't been able to find it in the diagrams, which is also why I can't track down a part # for it. Check this video, though:

At the 0:52 mark you can clearly see the spring; it's coiled around the hinge pin (#14 in that diagram). The spring is shaped pretty weirdly (notice the long "arm" that tucks under the metal bracket) which makes it impossible to just use some generic spring instead

Did you eventually resolve this? I was looking at the 996 PET and it showed a spring like you mentioned (item 37 in the diagram below), so it appears that you may have a lid from a 996 rather than a Boxster. Spring part number is 996 552 795 01.

Huh, that's weird. Well thanks a ton for figuring that out, I still hadn't managed to find anything
