Radio code

A good friend of mine recently picked up an early Boxster from his father. The radio code card is missing and apparently the battery had been disconnected at some point. What are his options for recovering the code?

Try Becker Auto Sound in N.J., they may be able to help. I think these are the same people that used to be called SWS Stereo and they had told me years ago that they can get radio codes for Becker products.

Check with the local Porsche dealer to see if it can help you. You will need the radio's serial number. How this is obtained depends upon the brand of radio. Google (boxster radio serial number" and I bet you'll get the steps for I think the two different brands of radio used.

I do not recall the details for even my Boxster's radio (I can't even recall which brand of radio was installed).

I got the radio code by posting the required info on a thread in renntech.org. The thread starts out with instructions on how to obtain the required serial number and may be one other thing.

I replied to the thread with the info but happened to be at the dealer shortly after and the SA said if I was not able to get it from renntech.org he could get it for me. But renntech.org came through with the code.

Be aware that if you enter the wrong code before you can make another try the engine and radio have to be on for IIRC 30 minutes. I screwed up. Fortunately after I obtained the code my work commute is at least a 30 minute commute so at the start I made sure the radio was on and then before I shut off the engine at the office I entered the code and the code was accepted.

You might try contacting 'Heico' on the 986Forum. He has helped dozens with radio codes.

The response time is very quick, it's a no brainer.
Good luck
