P0442 Fuel Tank Ventilation System (Micro-leak) - Below Lower Limit - Help please . .
The CEL light lit up on t he dash though my Base 2004 986 was running, and continues to run fine. I went into my neighborhood Autozone shop and they came up with the P0442 and wanted to run a smoke test to find the leak. I declined so I could see if it was an easy fix.
After reading lots of threads about this code I checked the gas cap but it seems to be fine. I also changed some fuses but that didn't do anything. As I don't have a floor jack, I stopped short of taking off the wheel well cover to check the fuel tank hoses, Evap canister, etc. Should I go back to Autozone and have them do the test and possible repair to save money or would it be better to go to a Porsche repair shop or dealer? Is it a simple repair or something that requires a specialist? Thank you. |
