Default Oil leak due to Oil Air seperator?

had a fairly good oil leak coming somewhere from the left cylinder side. Replaced the oil air separator after a tech told me that my crankcase pressure was too high. Suddenly it seems that my oil leak is gone. Is this kinda normal?

How full do you keep your oil in your car?

How about the electronic indicator on these cars. Do you prefer to fill it to the top?

no indicator for low oil. Just glad that no leaks now.

Does the boxster have the electronic oil level indicators like the 911 cars of this era? I've read some threads on the subject and if the oil gets too low, the indicator (I assume the oil level graphic below the gauges) will flash. Is that the case with these cars?

Most often when an AOS goes bad the crankcase pressure is too low. But if there's a failure mode that can have the AOS causing the crankcase to run at an elevated pressure certainly that could force oil out of the engine. Have to point out even with a healthy AOS the crankcase experiences times air pressure that can reach atmospheric such as can be the case under hard acceleration when the air pressure in the intake system can go up.

All you can do is clean the area of the leak and periodically check it for any fresh leak sign. While I hope the AOS was the cause of the leak I suspect there's still a leak, it is just intermittent. (Had at least one intermittent leak over the years with my Boxster. The spark plug tube o-rings. When the tech went to replace them he found them so bad they were in pieces.)
