Default opening hood when battery is dead

1998 boxster. Suggestions say pull out the red fuse bus ... it does not exist. 2nd suggestion is to pull C3 fuse put 12v on the C3 fuse connectors ... 3rd suggestion is to find the mechanical release in a wheel well.

Need advice on how to do suggestions 2 & 3

In the fuse box, there is a +12v "plug" that pulls, ..to connect a 12v source (between plug and any good ground, i.e chassis door lock), and then you can open !
Sure, all but not convenient at all !)

The mechanical release is a cable with a loop in the end and is located in the right wheel well just inboard of the headlight bucket. Can't see it, but by feeling around you might be able to find it. Going thru the fuse panel is by far the easier method. I had the problem for a while, I installed a voltage gauge in the dash in the space where the left hand lighter would be. You can also get a jumper cable that will plug into the working lighter itself, which is always hot and might provide enough voltage to pop the frunk lid.
