Used Boxster S, M3, RS3???
 

Morning all,

First post here, but been reading the forums for opinions for a long time.

I was about to put an order in for an RS3 on Saturday, but then stumbled across a used 2016 M3 (16,000 miles) and a used 2014 Boxster S, loaded (15,000 miles). So now I am unsure which to get. We live in Colorado, so snow sometimes, but not a lot. All are around the same price. RS3, $59k; M3, 58k; Boxster, 55k

We we're aiming for a four door to transport my little son easier, but wife said we could make do with her Durango (we work together) for taking the kiddo around, if I wanted the Porsche.

Is the price for the Boxster S good? I enjoy haggling down on prices. it has a lot of options, PDK, sports Chrono pack.

Drive 'em. See what fits your preferences. It's your car. I'll confess to having 3 sports cars before marriage and two after all the kid's bills were paid. I got rid of a mini-van and bought a SUV and a Boxster to make sure I could get to work and errands in all conditions. Big wide summer tires don't work well in snow and ice. Buy a Boxster with lots of its depreciation absorbed by someone else with good maintenance records.

Yah, we have her Durango (AWD) and work together, so that's one reason the wife is ok looking at this Boxster. Of course, we can't predict any weird situations where we would wish we had two cars to put the kiddo in.

It's really tempting to get that Porsche at the tail end of it's major depreciation drops.

We go back and forth with the RS3 still with to being new with new tech (virtual cockpit) and having that newness feel. But then we eat the depreciation....hmmmm

My experience was I could tell in as little as a few blocks if a roadster was right for me. Personal taste. No reason yours should be the same. But the fitting of a child seat is a bit more involved in older Boxsters so investigate that.

Hahaha, I figure the kid could go in one of the trunks. He is a little guy, should have plenty of room.

In all seriousness, we'd use my wife's Durango for kid movements. Probably more legal that way
