what is the difference in 2001 and 2004 Boxster headlights?
 

My headlights are dingy, and one is damaged from an accident. I am searching for replacements. I have found 2004's for have the price of the 2001's. the only difference that is noticeable is the amber or clear in the turn signals. will the 2004's work on my 2001

From what I know I'd say there's no difference between an 01 and an 04 as long as you're comparing apples to apples. There are the standard lights or the optional Litronics and that would present a major difference. I changed the original lights on my 2000 to the Litronics and it was an entire kit with all the pieces needed. These lights came with the clear turn signals as opposed to the amber that the originals had so this may be part of what you're looking at, be sure that you are looking at the same type of light. As far as I know there are no differences between the standard lights on any years of 986 but I may be wrong.

Litronics was the name of the upgraded headlights.
