Angry 2001 Boxster Battery/Starter

Afternoon all.....I have a 2001 Boxster that has been garage kept for a while for a number of reasons. It has had a dealer added trickle charger so that the battery would not die. I pulled the cover off yesterday and it would not start. Took the battery out and my auto parts store gave me a replacement battery which I installed this morning and the car started right away. Left it running for over an hour while I washed it and even took it for a lap around the block. Once I parked it and turned it off it would not start again. The dashboard indicator lights flickered on/off and all I got was the dreaded clicking sound while I tried to start it. Thoughts and/or advice? Thanks in advance!!

Did you fully charge the replacement battery?

Are you sure the you have good contact? Cable terminals clean and secure? Could you have a defective cable that is giving you intermittent contact?

Sounds like a loose cable. Most automotive replacement batteries are sold fully charged, btw.
