Boxster buying help
Hi. I'm new here and also new to Porsche. I'm looking at getting a Boxster S. Trying to keep the budget low, <$25k, with kids getting to college in a year. I found some 2008-2010 models that fit the budget. Miles range from 40k-80k.
Any of those years better than others for reliability? Or mileage issues? Is an 09 with 80k miles better than an 08 with 60k miles? I know a lot has to do with how the car was treated but I'm looking for some general advice on these.
Of course I plan on getting a PPI done before purchase. Anything special I should ask about?
Carfax on all of them seem good with lots of service records at dealers.
Next question which might sound weird.
I found a few 08s that fit the budget nicely (low 20s). One of them has Porsche with the S below it on the back. The others all have Boxster S. What does that mean?
Are there options that are a must have or a must avoid?
Thanks everyone!
Rob

Rob,
You may want to post this question on the 987 Boxster/Cayman forum which the covers cars you are asking about from 2005 to 2012. This forum is related to the 986 Boxsters that are 1997 to 2004.
Good luck on your search!

FWIW: You can find a reliable, easy to DIY, fun-as-hell pre-'01 Boxster with 100k miles for $5k-$7k. That'd save you a few bucks for the kids' books.
