The shifter in my '03 Boxster has gotten a little stiff moving left-to-right. I took the car to my local Porsche specialist, and they confirmed the shifter cables need to be replaced (among many other repairs on my to-do list). I acquired a nice set of gently used cables on eBay, and also located a plastic shifter lock tool.

I am planning on replacing the cables this Saturday. Any tips or tricks I should know before diving in? Any suggestions on the best way to get the new cables perfectly adjusted?

I replaced the cables on my 2000 Boxster S and as I recall it was rather straight-forward. No problems or tricks needed.
