I have a very high miles (250K miles), Audi A8 with the 4.2 V8. It utilizes a timing belt but between the cams on both sides is a chain with an adjuster to vary valve timing. The adjuster is a hydraulic thing which the chains "ride" on. On cold startup, the oil has drained down and causes the chain to clatter for 4-5 seconds. After that, it is quiet.


Would an a high mileage or super high mileage oil such as mobile 1 help quiet this down? Should i use the synthetic or standard high mileage oil?
