Default Boxster S questions

Hi everyone - I'm contemplating a 986 Boxster S for occasional track duty. The plan is to eventually add seats and harnesses and turn it into a street legal "gentleman's racer."

Do all the S cars have a center radiator, or was that only introduced in 2003? Is there a significant difference between a 2001 and 2003 besides Variocam? I can't seem to find these answers in search!

The S has the center radiator. Also for 03/04 the top was redesigned and has a glass rear window. The bumpers are different too. Occasional track use should be fine but heavy track use usually leads to suspension mods (for camber at minimum). With R comp tires oil starvation becomes a risk and deep sump or even accu-sump should be considered. I have GT3 seats and had to work a bit to get my head low enough and the harness geometry right. Not difficult just took some time and $.

Very nice - thanks for the answers and your car looks like just the setup I'm after!

There was also some interior changes like adding a glove box.
I think the HP is a few more, maybe 4 or 5 HP

A much better forum for Boxsters is 986forum.com
about 1000% more active than this one

I had the same idea. The m96 motor is just a steaming pile of crap. I'd spend a bit more and get a DFI 987.2 base boxster.
