Default Change from 235 to 245 up front?

The AD008R's on my Boxster Spyder are only 1 year old with about 2.5k miles and in great shape. l will be replacing them next year as the 200 wear rating will be enforced then. The car is used for AX and pleasure driving.

This year I will be up against 981 GTS's and S's with all the latest suspension goodies for AX in my stock class.

I tried to fit 255's upfront; but, testing it on the right hand side it just barely intermittently touched the lower strut housing so I will be returning them. Spyder's with Spyder rims were not offered with spacers so they may not an option for me. I run 3lbs less pressure in the rears than on the front to get the handling I like.

My question is would 245's offer a noticeable improvement in handling and/or help even out tire pressures from front to rear?

Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

Cheers,
Mark

Not sure if it would help, but there is a 6mm allowance on offset in street. So if you're running oe wheels, you can put up to 6mm spacers on there and be legal.

That helps. I'll try to find some spacers so it doesn't rub. Hopefully it won't be too wide with the 255's.

Actually, this year its a 7mm allowance.

It used to be 1/4" (6.35mm), but they metricated it to 7mm.

1/4" was the target, so going to 7mm gave a little bit of a tolerance should the offset/spacer actually measure out to 6.36mm.

Put in my buddies 5mm shims and all is well. I'm thinking I may get the tires shaved so I don't have to bother with the shims.

Leave the spacers in.....the wider overall track will slightly improve your turn-in

She certainly turns in now. I can hardly wait for AX practice next weekend to what she can really do.

Keeps my streak alive of giving helpful but slightly incorrect information.

All set on tires - thanks. I ended up getting spacers for all for all four corners.
