Tidewater Sports Car Club held our spring circuitcross at Academi (Blackwater) yesterday. I was worried how I'd do because my ZII Star Specs had worn down into off the treadwear indicators and felt way off at ACU4 last weekend, but they were still fast enough to take top index for this event. The only car that was faster than my 2010 Boxster S was a 400hp STI on Hoosier R6s, and the margin between us was pretty slim. Anyway, I had a lot of fun

Alberta Solo Association event #3.
Here are videos of my first and last runs. The first was a bit messy because I was kinda lost (busy doing timing setup, so no course walk). It's also the only run I took the left side on the optional slalom. I wasn't quite sure which was better but reviewing the data shows I was significantly faster exiting that element and through the next 200m or so when using the right option. Could also be practice and familiarity. My fourth run was good for 3rd place RAW & PAX of 39 drivers.

OK, well apparently, I don't know how to Internet, because I can't get the YT tag to work properly. Can someone help me out with the correct formatting?
EDIT: Figured it out. Format is to use only the video ID, not the full url.

Nice driving, though.

Really working hard on trying to slow / smooth my steering inputs, seem to be making progress.
Apparently I also need to work on knowing when to give up just a hair more early if I can reap dividends later. My more talented co-driver was just nailing the bumpy turn around by slowing down and double apexing it, where I was trying to barrel through it as one long sweeper.

Thanks. I really wanted to push harder at that last turn, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. This was my first time on the new RE-71R. Liking them so far, they seem to require lower pressures than the RE-11A and are noisier at the limit. I'm doing a 2-day school this weekend, I will work on tuning pressures. First place driver last weekend was also on RE-71R.

My last race with RE11's I ran 32 front and 36 back and the tires liked it. What are you running with the RE71r's? Yes those walls can spook you into not pushing as hard.

I keep dropping pressures in my 'stones and they seem to be working better and better. I'm at around 30f/32r now.
I've read that people are even using sub-30psi with good results. Supposedly Bridgestone reps recommend 32-36psi depending on application.

I started at 34F/35R. Finished first run at 34/36, second at 35/37 and then I dropped them down to 34/35 again and finished next run at 35/36. Looking at temps and rollover, I think I can drop another 2-4 F/R, at least on that surface. For comparison I ran 42/44 (hot) on the RE-11A on that track.
