Default SCCA Solo Nationals

Porsches have done well in this year's SCCA Solo National Championship, of particular note Porsches swept the Top 3 in F Prepared (a 914/6 and 2 Boxsters) and GT3's won Super Street and Super Street R

All three of those classes run on another course tomorrow. Only half done.

You're right...I misread the "T" designation and thought they had already "Trophied"

Also looks like Lincoln is about to get hit with rain, so everything is about to go out the window.

Well, Dixon did it again. Fastest on day 2 to take the win by 0.368 which is an *** whooping in SSR with that stacked level of talent.

Chris *** jumped from 3rd to first in SS to win by 0.062 in his GT3.

FP still to come. I've seen Dave's 914/6 run many times and it's an insane car.

Something other than a corvette won SS/SSR two years running. Time to bump the GT3s into Street Prepared.

It was very different. The S2000 transitioned so quickly but didn't have the rear grip on corner exit I'm used to. I always felt like I was overdriving the car even when I wasn't. I was really pleased to finish mid-pack the first day although I slipped a bit the second. STR was fun but the competition is so stiff. I'm looking forward to some real autocross tires for the 996 and getting back to AS.

I tanked the first day on the west course in ASP, but clawed back to a 4th place on the east. Lent our car to one of the broken Evo drivers to make a run on the first day, and he really enjoyed it - trying to maintain good karma. Still need to knock off around 1s/60 next season to be more competitive. I'm sure 50% of that is behind the wheel. The solo trials on Saturday was a fun, fast event, but it did manage to send the pdk into overheat/limp mode after 6 timed runs.

I was too aggressive on throttle, and the rear tires were losing some of their bite after 2 drivers in the pro solo, solo2, and practice runs at the trials.

I meant it in a positive way. Looks like a ton of fun. If I get that much off axis in my car it's going around.

So what's the deal with solo trials? I'm assuming it's like what Solo I was back in the day, except they relaxed the safety rules a little? Was this a one shot deal, or are there plans to revive it?

Solo trials is an attempt to revive something between Solo II and the old Solo I format; basically a high-speed autocross.

This was my first nationals, and I got my *** kicked. Granted, I was in a Boxster S against GT3s and elises, but most of it was me driving like crap thursday, driving dirty friday, and just needing to step up my game. My car was loose as hell on the east course, which was all decreasing radius corners; I tightened my swaybar and drove much better on the west course except I coned away my fastest runs and had to settle for a best clean time 1.3 seconds slower than my first. Ah well, I know where I stand now: mid-pack at my present skill level, and near DFL if I drive like I'm hung over. If I want a jacket, I need to be raw-timing the CSP/DSP guys locally.

It was more like a fast autocross, still had tight/slow elements, just longer straights and sweepers. Still had a standing start and finish, not consecutive laps.
