I run Michelin PS2's for street and Auto-X and love them. They have far more stick to them than PS Ribs, by a wide margin. I also run 265's in the rear and prefer it to 285's for Auto-X as the car is less understeery in the slow turns and the back rotates much better. For street driving I think the difference between 265 and 285 is meaningless. For DE's/Track I prefer 285's. PS2's are not cheap though, expecially in 285's.

The Dunlops are about 0.5 - 1.0 second faster on a 60 second course than the PS2s. I know this from actually driving both in the same car on the same day. I know the PS2 is faster than the PS Rib. I would recommend the Dunlops without hesitation except that they are definitely noisier on the street than the PS2. However, most SCCA street tire people feel that the Dunlop Star Spec or the Bridgestone RE11 are the fastest real street tires out there.

I was going to get the Dunlops, but my tire place had a super deal on the AD07s so I went that route since I was able to stay at 285/30 in the rear. I figured the AD07s would be at least as good as the Dunlops and I would have a wider rear.

I think you probably made a good decision in the Yoks were less than the Dunlops. The performance is probably close enough that price and size can be your determinants. Have fun!

I ran AD07s on my 02 996 cab at autocrosses...I think you will like them, I loved em. My only sugestion is get some miles on them before you attend your first event. They are a little oily at first. Have fun and enjoy!

fwiw, I now have some take-off AD07s that were bought in February, shaved to 4/32nds,
and autocrossed 4 times so they are n their prime. 2 295/30/18s, and 2 265/35/18s.

I'm road driving on R888s now; trying to get them scrubbed in for an AX. They sing to you on the road and their stiffer sidewalls probably provide a less compliant ride than the extreme performance tires previously mentioned. I don't think I'd like them on my only car, even for only 7k miles per year. I also wouldn't try to drive on them through the winter. We're coming close to recommending a separate set of rims/tires for AX. I have 3 sets of rims/tires (one each for street, AX, and track), but, with only one set, I think I'd stick with one of the extreme performance tires already mentioned.

Wifey got a set for the C2S just after the start of this season in May. She is not as aggressive as I am and the tires still have plenty of tread on them. We autox at least once a weekend and often twice. She drives up on the 888s and I trailer the RS. About 87 miles each way. Yeah, they do sing on the road after an event or two, but the C2S and RS are only used for autocross. I really liked them the few times I have taken the car around the cones. Nice progressive break away, plenty of feedback. Took me just a 3rd of the course to adjust down from the A6s that I run.

wild996: I now have 1070 miles on the R888s, including 4 AX days. Tread depth still measures 6/32", but I measured about 6.3/32" when they were new.
The R888s seemed stickier than the Michelin Cups on their first outing, but they don't seem any quicker than Cups through a course on warmer days. I can more easily get the Cups to slide a bit in places where that would help set up for the next section. I suspect that I may still be under-driving the R888s, in contrast to my usual tendency to overdrive the Cups.

888s will be about 1 second slower than A6 on a 60 second course. They will last 10 times as long. They wll be much better in standing water. So, as always in racing, going fast costs money, how fast do you want to go?
