Default thinking of saying to hell with PAX and running ASP

I don't street drive my 996 much. The AS pax is nice at local events, but I don't really care about local events anymore. I don't think the car will ever be well-paxed or leave the same class as the C5Z06. The only mods I really want on the car are front camber plates, and I guess a bit of lowering. Thinking of doing Ground Control plates, lowering springs, and a roll bar. This would of course bump be into ASP right? Unless I run 255s in STU lol. I'd be fine with going to R-comps again since I already have a trailer, but the RE71Rs have been nice. Would honestly probably use the 71Rs as my "street" tire and put BFG R1s or Hoosier R7s or similar on for track days.

I don't want to totally crush your spirit but there's no 911 classed in STU at all, so you'd be right to ASP. Are there at least any ASP cars that run regularly in your region? Class of one is no fun.

Not sure how your regions operate, but our region combines all the prepared and mod cars into one class and makes them run on PAX.

We do the same for Street, Street Touring, and Street Prepared/Street Mod

Otherwise everyone would get a trophy.

Even at Dixie and Fort Myers no one runs ASP.

Did the 996 never make it to STU? I thought it was included with the 255 tire limit caveat (which was being upped to 265?)

I'd be happy to just run SS in a 996 GT3, but then I'd need $80,000.

You think anyone will notice if I just swap the badge/suspension/rear seats? The ultra-rare GT Silver, Sunroof-equipped 996 GT3?

Looks like your 80k might do you better than a 996 GT3 now that the 3 pedal GT3 is back and speculators are being flushed out of the 996/997 market. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...he-911-gt3-11/

I'm hoping this is a trend. A few months ago I saw some 996 GT3 on autotrader in the mid 60s. Looked like honest mid-mile cars that had been actually enthusiast driven, not garaged and rubbed with diapers. I could be happy forever with a 996 GT3.

The one thing that I don't like about the 996 GT3 is, I don't fit in the dam car as I'm to dam tall for it. IT would be a fun ride though.

I also could do with out the sunroof as it takes away some head room. But if I fit with a helmet and it had a sunroof I would buy it.

Could be a dumb question, but there is more headroom in a 997 over a 996? I always thought the basic shell was the same and the roof panel was carried over without change?

Regardless, I can see how anyone taller than 5'11 like myself could have a problem. With the way I like to sit when driving competitively, my helmet always bumps the sunroof frame in the headliner. I'd happily give that thing up, all it does is annoy me, add weight and make me live in fear of using it and having it break.

That's why I sold mine and bought a 987.2 Spyder. Although I had to forego the sport buckets as they sit taller than sofa's.

A lot more headroom; as noted earlier I sold my 6GT3. My buddies 987.1 GT3 had a sunroof (they all did) and I fit fine with a helmet. FWIW I'm 6'2" with a 32" inseam.

The 997 and 987 has a different floor pan than the 996 and 986. The newer floor pan gives you more head room.
