Default Has anyone written (recently) for 997 to AS?

With many of the other Porsches getting moved down (finally), can we get 997s in AS? Even if it's just the early ones. They won't be beating the 1LE or the C5Z06, and honestly I doubt they are faster than the 40th with that extra width out back.

I was thinking of doing a letter but got side tracked with the CAM build. The early 997's are out classed by the 981's that went to AS but it should be moved.

And despite all the moves, we're still not getting 987.2S with 987.1S in BS.

This seems like it should be an easy pitch for the base 997 and the non-DFI 997S especially. The non-dfi 997S is 355 hp; the 40th is 345. Suspensions are basically identical. They carry a wider wheel out back but they still aren't running more rubber than the other AS cars. 997s are now experiencing the same pricing trends as the 996s with nice-condition used ones hitting reasonable prices that most anyone shopping for a sports car could buy.

Last year's BS national championship was won in a 987.1S, and there's been a flood of new Cayman entrants at national-level events this year -- 5/9 entrants at last weekend's Fontana Pro were in Caymans. Given those two facts, I think it would be nuts to move the 987.2S down to BS at this time.

997 to AS, on the other hand, is a move that's long overdue.

I stand to potentially suffer from a 997 in AS seeing as I'm running a 996 in AS...and even I want to see the 997 in AS!

I have been autocrossing for about 17 years now and have had 3 different cars that I have used. I recently purchased a 997.2 C2S but will not likely get to autocross it till late this summer due to work. Previously I had a 996.1 C2 which of course was in AS. I lost interest in autocrossing in the past few years as the 996 was so outclassed that it took a lot of fun out the experience. I was considering purchasing a C5Z or C6Z but I ended up with the 997.2. I guess I am going to be repeating my 996 experience when autocrossing. I am continually baffled by the way the SCCA classes Porsches. It is ridiculous that this should be in SS when the C6Z is in AS.
