Default 993 classing question

Hi all,

Had a classing question for a 993. I see it listed in BSP and in BS, but is there an ST_ class that a 993 would fit into or am I forced into SP by going outside of the Street allowances?

thanks in advance

Unfortunately, no, there's no place in ST for actual sports cars like most Porsches and Corvettes. Even a lot of the cars that are classed in ST are required to run on narrower-than-OEM tires which means they're illegal in practice for most drivers even if they're classed.

I'm not quite as cynical as sjfehr - I think there's not enough support for a "Super ST" because most of the cars that would go there already have the wide tires and stiff suspensions.

I also don't think the ST wheel / tire rules are perfect but it's better than the SP mess, and works for most cars.

But yes, straight to BSP with a 993. Unless your local club has a "street tire unlimited" type class. Most do. If they don't yet, ask if they'd consider one.

If there's a local chapter, the Porsche Club will likely have a friendlier class for your car. Unfortunately, it'll also have much easier competition.

local club classing is easier to navigate. Was wondering for SCCA as I drive with them occasionally and many other local groups use the SCCA classing for pax/non-marque classing

The 993 is a sometimes autocross car, so no big deal, just wondering

thanks again all
