Anybody want to walk a dummy through his 996 system?

I bought this car well over a year ago and besides changing the ancient Pioneer HU to a a nice variable color Kenwood, I have no idea idea what I'm doing. (Example: it turns out the car had an XM box under the passenger seat...I went ahead and bought a new one and stuffed it inside the console).

Many moons ago the PO had this amp and crossover installed (see pics). I have dash/door/rear panel speakers (no dedicated sub), and I have never opened them up to see what's there. I do know that the rears (in particular) cannot handle much bass and sound blown out. I don't have the slightest idea how to set up the HU, amp, and crossover to work in correct combination.

I am not much of an audiophile, especially with bypass pipes installed, but the blown speaker sounds annoy me, as does the lack of bass.

Should I pull the amp and crossover out and just replace the speakers? Leave the amp and crossover? I appreciate any and all advice. I realize this is not even Audio 101, this is more like pre-Audio :)

Dave
